For those of you who were unaware, the Arizona Auto Hobbyist Council was instrumental in creating the passing the Arizona Collectible Auto Registration Program Bill which passed the Arizona legislature in 1995. The bill exempts collectible vehicles 15 years and older from emissions testing providing they are registered as collectible vehicles. To be registered as a collectible each vehicle must be insured as a collectible car, and its use is restricted (mileage limits, must have another car as primary transport.)
This will be great boon to car collectors in Arizona and the EPA agrees with the data collected by Arizona auto hobbyists showing that collector cars do not contribute to air polution in a significant way. The Arizona MVD should have information about the program later this month and I for one will be signing up for several of my cars.
